Why do I need my tooth extracted?

There are many reasons why we might recommend a tooth extraction. Your tooth may need to be extracted because it is poorly positioned in your smile, or to prepare your mouth for orthodontic treatment. Your tooth may have developed an abscess, become badly decayed, or you may have developed advanced gum disease.

Will I experience pain during my tooth extraction?

Our dental team will begin by placing a local anesthetic at the area surrounding your tooth. Once the local anesthetic takes effect, you will not feel pain in that area.

If you experience any discomfort during the extraction procedure, our attentive team will be listening and ready to help make you feel comfortable.

When will I be able to eat and drink normally again?

Following your extraction procedure, you should eat only soft foods for a couple of days. You can add solid foods back into your diet as you heal.

Since patients heal at different rates, this time varies.

How should I care for my mouth after the extraction?

Good post-operative care is very important. During your extraction appointment, our helpful team will explain how you will care for your mouth after the extraction procedure.

By following some simple steps, you can prevent any potential complications after an extraction.
